Dr. Rebecca Karp grew up in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where she gained early insight into the field of dentistry from her father’s dental practice. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology and German Literature from the University of Virginia in 2015. During her undergraduate years, she shadowed and learned about dentistry from influential mentors at the UVA Dental Clinic. Dr. Karp obtained her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2019. Thereafter, she returned to Charlottesville to further her skills as a practitioner at the UVA General Practice Residency Program. During the two year residency, she provided care to patients in both the hospital and Charlottesville community with an emphasis on advanced restorative and surgical procedures.

Dr. Karp is an active member of the American Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, and Richmond Association of Women Dentists. Staying current in clinical practices is important to Dr. Karp, and she is a member of various study clubs that focus on continuing education and collaboration within the dental community. In addition, Dr. Karp enjoys volunteering with Mission of Mercy projects and has travelled state-wide to provide clinical care to patients of all ages.

Outside the Office

Outside of the office, Dr. Karp enjoys a competitive family tennis or ping–pong match (although her sisters won’t keep score anymore to keep it “fun”). She can be found running on the roads and trails around Richmond, often with her dog, “Lady”. She enjoys baking and making sweet treats, and loves sharing them with friends and family. Dr. Karp is delighted to now call Richmond home and is proud to have joined Monument Family Dentistry in 2023.
